The Mark of the Fey #SatSpanks

As a Medieval romance, Her Rogue Knight, also contains elements of legend, specifically the legends of Morgan le Fey and Avalon and those of King Arthur, or at least the powerful scabbard that sheathed his sword.

This was probably the most fun part of writing this book. I love this legend, and I loved twisting it even more, making it unique to the story and to Sir William and Gemma's quest.

Gemma was born with the mark of the Fey, the twin serpents of Avalon, a symbol of magic and of protection. As Sir William and Gemma get closer to rescuing Alys, her birthmark begins to change in form, growing in size and, although she does not know it yet, in power.

In this scene, Gemma, who is half Fey but no longer believes in magic, wakes from a dream to find evidence that the magic is very real indeed and that she, as a daughter of Avalon, shall have its protection.

                 * * * *

He touched the spot but what he saw was unreal. He believed in magic. He believed in the Fey. He had seen enough to know how real it was. But still, looking at her now, this tiny little thing, what he saw was impossible to believe.

“The mark,” he began, touching the twin serpents once more.

“What?” she asked, trying to sit up.

He allowed her to rise, and she immediately put her hand over it.

“It’s grown.”

Since her mother’s death, Gemma has raised her younger sister Alys and kept her family safe… until the day they are caught by surprise and Alys is taken by a band of outlaws. In desperation, Gemma’s frail, elderly father pleads for aid from a reclusive knight by the name of Sir William and pledges him Gemma’s hand in marriage in repayment for the safe return of her sister.

When Gemma ignores her father’s instructions and sets out on her own to rescue Alys, she discovers that this gruff, unkempt, and yet undeniably handsome brute is more than her match, and the lesson is brought home with a sound spanking on her bare bottom. With no time to waste taking the brave and feisty yet hopelessly naïve eighteen-year-old back home, Sir William has no choice but to bring her along as he pursues her sister’s captors. Though he might not admit it, however, he relishes the thought that he might have to punish her again, and with every glimpse of her delicious curves his lust intensifies.

In spite of his firm chastisement and his demand for her unquestioning obedience, Gemma finds her feelings for Sir William evolving rapidly. She begins to wonder what it would feel like to be stripped bare and held tight in his strong arms, helpless and blushing, yet longing for him to claim her hard and thoroughly.

Even as her desire for him grows stronger, she frets about the secrets he keeps from her. His skill in battle alone tells her that he is no mere woodsman, and the hilt of his sword bears a marking that cannot be mistaken—a symbol that she believed had passed into legend. Can she trust this man with her life and that of her sister? Will he fail her in her hour of greatest need, or will her rogue knight prove himself worthy of not only her submission but her love as well?

Publisher’s Note: Her Rogue Knight is an erotic novel that includes spankings, anal play, graphic sexual scenes, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

I too love the old legends and you did a fantastic job of making it your own. I love how the magic made Gemma take notice, even though she denied it's existence, and how Sir William helped her come to terms with it.

Morgan Le Fey is one of my favorite enchantresses, even though she wasn't a particularly nice person. Arthurian Legends are among my favorites, so I'm definitely going to have to check out Her Rogue Knight. Great blurb and snippet.

Adding old legends into books is such fun! The description here brought it so smoothly into the story without interrupting the flow of the scene. So nice.

Sorry to ooh, but... ooh! :D I wasn't expecting that! Really great voices - I believe in these people and their world.

Me too! I tell my daughter I'm really the Fairy Queen and that she is too - a princess but only half Fey. She looks at me and tells me to stop but part of her is like 'is it true?' It's so cute.

Thanks Joelle!
