I studied my parents as they got their first glimpse of
Aubrey. In the photo, she was looking down, her smooth auburn hair with its
burning red highlights hiding most of her face. Her skin was the color of
porcelain with a dusting of freckles that softened her and made her appear
younger than I already thought she was. I knew they’d wonder about her age.
Shit, I was still wondering.
Despite the curtain of her hair, you could still see the
shape of her pert pixie-like nose and the dimple on her cheek, which told me
she was smiling at what she was reading. The book she held in her hand was a
Jane Austen, my mother’s favorite author. I took it as a sign that day and
wondered now if my mom noticed. Aubrey was holding the book in her tiny hands
that reminded me how fragile she was. I wanted to find her inner strength and
show her who she could become. I saw it inside her. I saw her beauty.
Everything about her was beautiful to me.
“She didn’t know you took this,” my father commented.
I shook my head. “She was lost in her book. I doubt she’d
let me take a photo.”
“She’s beautiful, so delicate-looking,” my mother
commented when she handed my phone back to me.
“She is beautiful.” I sighed, focused on suppressing a
grin. “She has no idea how beautiful she really is. That’s something I plan to
help her see.”
TODAY’s QUESTION
William sees the beauty inside Aubrey that she can’t find

What a touching thing for William to say. I think about my own Master, struggling with my anorexic thinking. William's plan is wonderful show of caring- just because someone is interested in BDSM doesn't mean they're uncaring
I agree with Natasha, it's a beautiful cover. I really like the use of the first person. I want to read this one.
I agree too, love the cover! I love the snippet. Such a wonderful show of Williams love, especially that he plans to help her see her own beauty.

My ultimate goal in this book was to dispel all those ideas that William was harsh and uncaring that some readers got in book one. Scenes like this one really open him up. I'm glad you saw that, Joelle. :)
Erin Dameron-Hill did the covers for this series. She's very talented.
I found that first-person comes more naturally to me than third-person. I expect I'll be doing more books in this type of narrative style.
William understands the subtle difference between changing her and allowing her to change herself. He wants her to see what he sees.
