The Alpha Bitch

Today begins The Spanking Romance Reviews A-Z blog challenge. I signed up because I am a masochist :). No, I signed up because I thought it would be good for me to try to do this and get more posts up on my blog. We'll see how it goes... In case you don't know what I'm talking about, Celeste Jones has challenged us to write a post for every letter of the alphabet in the month of June so here we go...

I know I'm shocking some of you by not going with A if for Anal, right? I'm full of surprises. Like I will be surprised - no, shocked - if I actually have a post for every letter of the alphabet this month...

The Alpha Bitch. I'd not heard of it until my friend defined it for me and followed up by telling me that was what I was. Yes, he called me an Alpha Bitch! He lives too far away for me to physically kick his ass, but after some thought, I had to admit that he was right.

Don't be shocked as to me, the definition of an alpha bitch is a strong woman who, once you've gained her respect and loyalty, is a solid friend. If not though, if you show yourself to be unworthy, she bites. That's what my friend said anyway. Something about 'if a man retreats into a corner, you bite until there's nothing left'. Like I said, he lives too far away for a good ass kicking but seriously, he's actually a very good, honest friend whom I just like very much.

I consider myself to be a modern woman with some very traditional ideas in certain areas of my life. I'm outspoken and mostly, I know what I want. Well, ok, that part is not quite true - I know what I don't want is more accurate. And I know what I expect from a man. It's funny, one of the things I would always say about my husband is that I married him because he wouldn't take any of my bullshit. That's still true today. I like that he takes care of me and supports me. He even looks over my royalty statements and tracks sales and tells me about trends and I smile and nod, happy that he's involved but not really following. I trust him completely and for me, that is saying a lot. But I know if he hadn't pushed back every single time I tried to take the upper hand, we might not be together right now or we might not be as happy to be together. That's kind of critical for me. We have kids and we are bound to each other - like it or not - and it's much more fun when you like it.

What about you? Alpha bitch? And would you be offended to be called that or flattered???

Beware of the dog. A dog that is Growling and Snapping should be corrected, otherwise she will be vicious. The word master to your husband is so a well chosen expression and really deserved I think...

It would have to be the right mood and the right person. I'm picky like that but I do sometimes act like one and should expect to be called out on it. Great post! ;)

Natasha, I like this post! I think I'm an alpha bitch in hiding. It's a southern thing, probably. I'm very polite and sweet on the outside, but when I get to know a person, that's when I push. I actually mentioned this a little on my blog, LOL. Thanks for sharing!

I would most definitely be flattered! For most of my life I was a wimp, I'm soooo much stronger now and being called an Alpha bitch would truly make me smile!

Yep, you surprised me Natasha lol. Great post! I'm probably more like Jaye, although I can have a pretty ferocious bark lol

I truly, truly believed that you were doing anal today, smh so disappointed. LOL I loved this post and I have such a hard time seeing you this way. I am definitely an alpha bitch and when I read the definition to my daughter, her response was "no comment." But then she laughed and agreed that she is too. I love that you found someone to temper that (and me too!) Now, the bigger question, what letter are you going to use to discuss Anal???

Excellent post Natasha, oh this is going to be such fun. I totally agree and although I've never though of myself as a Alpha Bitch is does have a certain ring to it. Hmm. Thank God for strong men or women like us would be cleaning them up with a spatula, lol

Great post Natasha and you are right, from you I expected Anal. I am an Alpha Bitch. I never thought of it in term of Alpha but I've been referred to as a bitch many times, only a few of those by my husband but even he thought I was a bitch at first (now too but he used to it - lol). I see nothing wrong with it and you're right we AB's need to have strong men who won't let us push them around or they would be the bridge we use to cross to the other side.

Excellent! I think the fact that you wanted to go kick his ass might be a clue about the Alpha Bitch thing. :)

But, I agree about a man who won't put up w/my crap. I think I might be an Alpha Bitch too. If I can steamroller someone, chances are I will. But if they stand up to me...I love it.

Thanks for taking the A to Z Challenge. Looking forward to more posts. :)

Nobody really talks about an Alpha Bitch! Thanks for sharing. I do hate whiny women and wimpy men!

I love your definition! I think I would have been offended at first, but not after it was defined!

Yay!! What an awesome compliment!
Seriously.
I so agree with about the wimpy man part. Nothing turns me off more. And I also have the same kind of relationship, and am so glad my hubby doesn't put up with my crap. :)

As for alpha bitching:
it depends on my mood actually and the environment.
When other people are directing negativity towards me, I sometimes back down and get upset.
But when it is someone else being picked on, I like get this whole surge of strength.
It's weird. I am actually very strong. It's just hard for me to stand up for myself sometimes bc of self esteem issues.

But if someone picks on my friends or family, they'd better watch out. I become very Alpha bitch then.
(my husband does not like seeing that side of me. It's not pretty and usually entails a lot of bad words :) )
Great A post!

I was going to post something witty. Instead, I'm just gonna sit here and nod my head as I think many others have already said it better than I could!

Great post, Natasha:)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered: "Well NOW what's she going to do about posting on everyone's favorite topic?"

I had never heard of "Alpha Bitch" before but I like it:) I'm a pretty loyal friend if you are someone I trust, but if you mess with my husband, kids, or family you better watch out. I'll walk away from you and never look back. GREAT post Natasha. Thanks for sharing:)

I suspect I might be an alpha bitch. Is there a test one can take? LOL. Interesting post--something different!
