A New Pen Name for L.A. Cloutier

Today I wanted to help a colleague spread the word that due to some trouble with the dreaded Adult Tag (you can read her post here), L.A. Cloutier had to abandon her pen name altogether and adopt a new one. I might be the last person to find this out as I'm not on Facebook so much so I miss a lot, but just in case, I'm sharing with whomever else is a little behind... I think it's hard enough in today's market to make yourself stand out and when you have to give up a name you've been using, you've published under and gained some readership from for a brand new one, it's pretty much starting from scratch.

L.A. is the author of The Story of L books as well as The Story of M. She has since taken on the name Melody Parks and has published her first book under Melody, The Immortal's Bite.

As erotica or erotic romance authors, Amazon is the main marketplace for the majority of us - at least if e-books are your thing. Other sites sell our books, but most of our sales come through Amazon. Knowing that, I think we all are very aware of the adult tag that can render a book invisible.

But moving on, I want to share a snippet from Melody's new book, The Immortal's Bite so here it is...

* * * * * * * * *

After laying her down softly in the middle of her bed, he joined her, propping himself up on one elbow. “Tell me we can give this a try, Cassandra.” He pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear. “Tell me you’ll let me take care of you. Let me show you that you can trust me.” He traced the edge of her bottom lip with his finger.

“It’s crazy,” she whispered. “I can’t seem to help myself from wanting you.” She reached up to touch his cheek. His jaw and chin were smooth—it made her wonder if for some reason he couldn’t grow facial hair. Letting her hand drift to his chest, she noticed he felt warmer than usual. “You feel warm.”

“I know.” His finger danced lazily over her exposed cleavage. “Touching you makes me warm.” He lowered his head to hers, putting a hand on the back of her neck and pulled her into a passionate kiss. He rolled over with her, nestling himself between her thighs.

She untucked his shirt and slipped her hands beneath it. Her tummy clenched when he moaned and she felt the insistent nudge of his cock against her. “Promise you won’t bite me,” she breathed, feeling his lips on her neck.

“I promise.” His tongue traced the shell of her ear. “I’ll never hurt you, or do anything you don’t want me to do.” His hand found its way under her shirt, his fingers teasing and stroking as they crept higher.

Her skin tingled as the backs of his fingers brushed the underside of her breast, turning into a burning ache when he held it, squeezing it, as he gently kissed behind her ear. Wanting to feel his bare skin, she tugged at his silky shirt. “Take it off.”

“Oh, my dear, sweet, Cassandra, you’re as hungry as I am, aren’t you?” he asked in a teasing tone, as he worked his shirt off and tossed it to the floor.

“Yes,” she whispered huskily, watching as the material slipped from his shoulders, her hands instantly reaching out to touch his firm muscles. It had been so long since she touched a man like this. Her pussy throbbed just thinking about his being inside her.

Blurb

On a drive to Springfield, Cassandra Dare loses control of her car on icy roads and ends up in a cornfield in Kansas. Hurt and disoriented after the crash, she makes her way to a run-down farmhouse. Finding the door unlocked but no one at home, she takes shelter inside and falls asleep, only to be awakened by the pale but incredibly handsome Gregorie Darnsworth.

Gregorie is immediately attracted to Cassandra and sees in her a strong resemblance to his late wife, so he encourages her to at least put something in her belly before going back out into the cold. In short order, the drug he mixes into the warm broth she drinks begins to work and she loses consciousness.

When Cassy awakens, she learns that Gregorie was once a doctor and has been caring for her injuries, but she laughs at him when he claims to be a vampire… until he transports her from his house to her home in the blink of an eye. She is shaken but intrigued—and drawn to his deep, silky voice, hard body, and old-fashioned ways—so she invites Gregorie back the following evening.

Cassy has been waiting for a dominant man who will pay no heed to the demons of her past and simply take her, and Gregorie does just that, showing her it is safe to let a man touch her again and then satisfying her in a masterful way unlike anything she has felt before, bringing her body to the highest peaks of pleasure again and again. Their passion for one another grows quickly, but can a vampire—and all of the darkness that is part of him—really be the man of her dreams, or will she ultimately have to face a life without Gregorie?

I have to admit, I had no idea that Melody and LA were one and the same until a few days ago, when I discovered it by accident.
This whole dungeon thing is making it so difficult for writers. It's hard to have repeat readership if you have to keep reinventing yourself. Wishing LA/Melody the very best of luck with her new pen name

I had no idea that Melody was LA either, and it really sucks about having to change your pen name so you can sell your books! So sorry that happened.

This one looks steamy, I do love a good vamp-y romance :) Best of luck, Melody!

It is just exhausting what Amazon is doing to authors. I have this book on my Kindle and am looking forward to Melody Park's new book with Maddie Taylor , Pleasure Bay. It should be amazing! Good Luck, Melody!!

Natasha, thank you so much for helping to spread the word about my pen name change and putting up this lovely post to share the word.
LA's experience with amazon could not have been worse and I pray that what happened to me never happens to anyone else.
I am grateful for the all of the fellow authors and friends I have made here. All of you make those rough patches just a bit more bearable. Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement.

And here I was wondering where the hell L.A. had gone off to. Now it makes sense!

I don't blame you at all for doing this, Melody. Better to do it now than to wait, I think.

I'm so glad you refused to give up.

Good for you Melody/LA. I had no idea that was you, but I have to admit that after reading your snippets I was thinking, "I'm not sure where this Melody Parks is coming from but she can sure as hell write! Why haven't I heard of her?" Lol. But that's cuz it wuz little ol' LA whose work I love... And I think Amazon likes the new you. ;)
