I contemplated whether or not to share this particular scene from Given to the Savage today as it is not a wholly consensual one that takes place between Rowan and Silas, but I think this book as a whole has pushed some boundaries so here it is. Bear in mind I can only share eight sentences and there are reasons for all of it so keep an open mind.

With the next strokes, he found himself breathing hard, punishing her for her sins but also
for those that did not belong to her. It was unfair, he knew it, but he couldn’t stop.
When he
moved his knee, she scrambled up onto the bed, trying to get away from him. She turned onto
her side, her eyes wide on the thick strap, but when he took hold of one ankle and dragged her
backward, she squeezed her eyes shut and tucked her fisted hands beneath her chest, knowing
she could not escape him.
Without speaking, he punished her. He struck hard, every inch of her bottom and then the
tops of her thighs marked with the vicious bite of the unforgiving strap and when she finally lay
still and he felt the wet heat of tears collecting in his own eyes, he threw the strap aside.
Rowan whimpered and inched farther up toward the headboard, but Silas climbed onto
the bed behind her, lifting her by her hips so that she lay with her face in the mattress, her bare,
striped bottom lifted high as he settled between her widespread knees. Without any gentleness,
he pressed his thick cock into her pussy.

In the aftermath of a plague which brought civilization to
its knees and left most of the world’s female population sterile, breeders—the
few women who remain fertile—have become a precious commodity. Breeders live in
relative comfort, but upon reaching adulthood they are tasked with bearing one
child after another to carry on the species. Frequent medical assessments keep the
breeders healthy and harsh punishments keep them in line.
As a breeder who has just come of age, Rowan knows she will
soon be little more than a slave, but when she dares to resist her fate the
penalty is severe. After a shameful, public chastisement and a thorough, humiliating
examination to determine her suitability for child-bearing, Rowan is given to a
savage from outside the community—a huge brute of a man named Silas—to be bred.
Against all expectations, Rowan finds herself drawn to her
new captor. Brave, ruggedly handsome, and even kind at times, Silas is
everything the men who enslaved her were not. When the time comes for him to
breed her, despite the circumstances something deep inside her begs for him to
take her long and hard. But while she soon finds herself longing to be his
forever, Rowan knows that eventually those who gave her to him will try to take
her back. When that day comes will Silas fight to keep her at his side even if it
means risking everything he loves?
Publisher’s Note: Given to the Savage is an erotic
novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, extensive medical play, anal
play, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t

Your characters were treated very harshly in this book--but you did an excellent job.
Wow Natasha, very powerful and intense!

Usually, I don't like knowing what's going to happen before I read it ... but in this book - it's even better the second time! This snippet was so vivid ... well done! :)
I definitely want to know more. Eight sentences are rough!
I just read this part in the book yesterday. Oh, Silas, why do you make me hate you? I really don't hate him, but god, he can be a jerk.
This book is so powerful. Loved it and if any of you havent' read, get to it.
What a powerful scene. It makes me want too read the whole book again. :) Great job.
My Goodness, what a wicked mind you have, Ms. Knight, wicked and wonderful. Great snippet.
Thanks Cara. It's the way the story had to be told.
Thank you Roz.
Thanks Shelly, I hope you enjoy the book.
I second that!!!
Just finished this book. It's brilliant and fantastically written though there is a lot of brutality and bleakness. This bit was fine in context but I found a lot of the medical stuff hard to read.
You're not the only one to have said that but I hope by the end, you understand it all and can forgive him.
Thank you Leigh :)
Thank you Livia :)
No more wicked than you Ms. Carpenter... ;)
I appreciate your honesty and your compliment and for this book, some of those scenes were harsh and cold but that was the life a breeder had. Period. I wrote some of those scenes a dozen times but it was how it had to be. It's the hardest book I've ever written and at the same time, the easiest. Hardest for me to be ok with the content and easiest in that the story told itself just like this.
It's funny how we want to make our characters do other things, but it just doesn't happen that way. This does sound stark, but it seems to be in keeping with the book. Good for you for allowing yourself to go there.
Great snippet! It was such a powerful one!
Wow, that was really rough!!
